Weight: 54 kilos

My family taught me that in order to be successful in life we need to hear the voice of our heart. My Dad always says: " If you want something better enough you have to put yourself and go get it". And I'll always remember my mother's words too: " To reach your goals, send your heart first, because your entire body will go right after it!". I also learned that life is not about doing all that you want, but to want all that you do. And that the sun comes out after every storm and if my eyes are filled with tears, I won't be able to see the rainbow.

INTERVIEW

My family taught me that in order to be successful in life we need to hear the voice of our heart. My Dad always says: " If you want something better enough you have to put yourself and go get it". And I'll always remember my mother's words too: " To reach your goals, send your heart first, because your entire body will go right after it!". I also learned that life is not about doing all that you want, but to want all that you do. And that the sun comes out after every storm and if my eyes are filled with tears, I won't be able to see the rainbow.

Describe your childhood when you were growing up from 8 to 13 years old.

I define my childhood as the beginning of a puzzle. All those memories are fundamental to me. As an adult, I have been able to value everything that my parents have done for me. Their unconditional love and struggle to provide me with a good education are the foundations of the puzzle of my life, which has made me a successful woman.

What lessons did you learn from your childhood/growing years?

I have learned that life is not about doing all that you want, but to want all that you do. It's not only to fight for the things that you want, but also to value more what you already have. To know that in spite of all my trials and tribulations and the obstacles that I had to face, I'm still standing and I'm resolved to never give up. I certainly know myself a lot better. I now realize that I am in charge of my own life and only through my effort and dedication I can succeed. I have also learned that the sun always comes out after the storm and if my eyes are filled up with tears I won't be able to see the rainbow.

What is your most memorable moment?

The most memorable moments in my life are the trips to do voluntary work in other countries. Nothing like that to help you realize how fortunate we really are. Coming face to face with all that poverty has shook me to the core. It has helped me to realize that I want to dedicate my life for a good cause that may reach beyond our borders. I treasure all these trips in my heart and wish for many more opportunities to continue to help those in need.

What is your environmental advocacy?

Lessen Pollution.

I can't forget the time when I was a child, I was chosen together with other children to sing before the Queen of England when she came with her husband to visit. It was a huge honor and an experience I'll never forget. I'm also passionate about animals from a young age. At 10 years of age, I raised 500 pounds to help build an animal sanctuary. I was also musical and could play the piano, guitar, drums, and violin. The biggest lesson I learned growing up is to always be myself and never judge people.

INTERVIEW:

I learned that we are all equal before God and that respect is a necessary ingredient for us to get along and live together and have peace. It doesn't matter what is one's color, gender, age, culture, nationality, social status or religion. We have to agree to disagree. Having grown up with 2 siblings, I quickly learned that conflict will arise between people and if you don't learn to respect the other's rights, than you lose your own. I learned that it doesn't matter if you are rich or poor, we are all equal, we all have the same needs and therefore we all share this planet and because of that, we must care for the environment.

Describe your childhood when you were growing up from 8 to 13 years old.

I remember school a lot, I have a good recollection of my school mates, going to English classes, swimming and volleyball competitions. It was a nice time in my life , in which I made strong friendships that last through this date. Also, it was during this time that I entered my first beauty contest, which I was picked by my mates to represent my class and to my surprise, I won that contest. My family was very supportive of me and that the beginning of my interest in representing a group of people, which later turned into an opportunity to represent more important causes.

What lessons did you learn from your childhood/growing years?

I learned that we are all equal beofe God and that respect is a necessary ingredient for us to get along and live together and have peace. It doesn't matter what is one's color, gender, age, culture, nationality, social status or religion. We have to agree to disagree. Having grown up with 2 siblings. What is your most memorable moment?

When I was 16 years old, I was the only winner of a school raffle of a free trip to Europe. I lived with a host family in England and visited Spain during the Navidad, which is at Christmas time, and also Scotland which has one of the highest mountains for skiing. It was then that I realized that there is a great difference between cultures and we must celebrate the difference which makes us so unique.

What is your environmental advocacy?

Clean sewers and segregate waste.

INTERVIEW:

Regular is the key for success. Failures are compelling moments for thorough review of one's route; success is compelling too, but to higher summits. Life and people are not always fair and honest, but always try to be fair and honest yourself

Describe your childhood when you were growing up from 8 to 13 years old.

It was the forming years for me. It is also this period that I discovered modeling and registered for training.

What lessons did you learn from your childhood/growing years?

Failures are compelling moments for a thorough review of one's route. Success is compelling too but it is on a totally different level. Being a regular and kind person is one of the keys to success. Life and people are not always fair and honest, but always try to be fair and honest to yourself.

What is your most memorable moment?

The saddest moment: the loss of my father when I was 18 years old. The happiest moment of growing-up years: my first runway show when I was 15.

What is your environmental advocacy?

I will lead an advocacy program with my association Coeur de Miss to lead the government to adopt a law stating that it is mandatory to replace by at least two or three (02 or 03) trees for each cut by the timber companies. There will be procedures of control with sanctions and incentives. I will show the exemplarity by holding "one person, one tree" campaigns in the towns of Cameroon and all over the world. This advocacy can be supported by WWF in all the countries.

“My growing years were filled with laughter, pain and tears. We resided with relatives which was hard because sometimes they will starve us. We get to eat only when my mom came home home from work. Since I was 12 I never felt a father’s love but only my mom’s love. I learned from this experience that obstacles make a person strong. I learned that if life gives you lemons, add some sugar and make lemonade.”

Currently holding the Miss Selebi Phikwe crown, she has also been crowned Miss Valentine, Miss Winter, including being first princess at the Miss University of Botswana as well as Miss Intervasity; which involved contestants from the universities of Lesotho and Swaziland.

Gaopalelwe revealed Batswana have supported her all the way and she wants to reward their support with her participation at the 10th edition of the Phillipino based pageant, by advocating for the protection of the mother earth and the enduring conservation of the environment.

INTERVIEW:

Plant more trees, Save water and stop wild fires.

Describe your childhood when you were growing up from 8 to 13 years old.

My growing years were filled with happiness, laughter, pain and tears. I grew up with my married parents and two younger brothers with my dads' family. My dad was working at the city and we were residing in the small town. Staying with relatives was hard because sometimes they would starve us and we got to eat only when my mum returned from work. We moved out to rent a place when I was 9 years old. When I was 1, my mom got transferred to work in the city and I had to be responsible for my brothers. Staying with brothers meant doing all the household chores by myself. My mum returned to us when I was 12 and life became better again.

The love that my dad gave us vanished just like that without any cause. Life became hard growing up lacking some things while my dad existed. Since I was 12, I never felt a father's love but only my mums' love.

What lessons did you learn from your childhood/growing years?

From my childhood experience I learnt that a problem-free life never makes a strong person and obstacle-free roads never make good drivers. So I turned all the negative situations I encountered into a positive driving force to a brighter future. I did not allow the situation to hinder the life that I planned. So, the biggest lesson that I learnt is, that if life gives you lemons add some sugar and make lemonade. Simply meaning, no matter how much pain and suffering you encounter in life, you will always find an equivalent amount of joy to keep you going in life. This is the motto that I am living upon.

What is your most memorable moment?

The most memorable moment was when I got admitted at the university. I was so excited and proud of myself for the fact that despite being sent back home because of school fees, I made it through. I realized that I am approaching the door to my big dreams. I will now be able to help my mother through the personal allowance we were given at school. It is the most memorable moment because it was time for perseverance despite the entire struggle that I had gone through.

What is your environmental advocacy?

I am going to hold educational talk shows in schools to raise awareness about the importance of taking care of the environment. The reason why I want conquer the schools is that I want to raise environmental awareness in children so that they can grow up well informed about environmental issues. I am also going to be involved in tree planting project and litter picking…I am going to do all these projects to motivate people about the importance of planting trees and that it should be in our hearts to pick litter knowing that a little effort done can benefit the whole world. So I want to do all these programs to awaken the conscience in people's hearts.

BIOGRAPHY:

INTERVIEW:

I would like to finish college and have a secure future for myself and my family. I also like to travel a lot and see many places, meet new people and learn new cultures. I would like most of all to be an influential person at least in one stage of my life.

Describe your childhood when you were growing up from 8 to 13 years old.

I grew up in Sarajevo with my parents and my older brother in a small house very close to the center of the city. I started going to primary school at the age of 7. I had a happy childhood because my parents are very cheerful and intelligent people. They raised me very well. When I was 10 years old, my parents decided to move to the USA and that was a big change in my life because I was very young and I had to leave all of my friends. Luckily I learned English very quickly and life in the States became easier for me.

What lessons did you learn from your childhood/growing years?

Living in the United States, I traveled a lot and I learned English and about their history. I also learned a lot about discrimination. There are still parts of the U.S that have racism problems where some white Americans don't approve of African-Americans and they treat them like they are worth less. I learned to treat everyone in the same respectful manner, not matter what color their skin is or what religion they choose to believe in. That is the lesson I value the most. I also traveled a lot as a child and I love seeing new places and meeting new people. Seeing how we are all different in our tradition and ways, it all comes from the heart.

What is your environmental advocacy?

I am against pollution of the water. Water is, and always will be, the source of life! Only 0.3% of water on earth is drinkable and even today, more than a million people don't have access to clean drinking water. Daily, 22,000 people die because of that. I often hear people say after the war for oil follows the war for water.

INTERVIEW:

A few months ago , I was named a favorite daughter of Pailon by the people of Pailon. It was very important for me, feeling the love and affection they gave me and it made me very proud to see that all my efforts resulted in my winning the Miss Santa Cruz contest. I was so proud, filled with satisfaction and gratification and it made me grow as a person and to move on.

Describe your childhood when you were growing up from 8 to 13 years old.

I lived in a small village called Pailon all my life. Here, I got my education and I have many friends. What I remember fondly from my childhood is my neighborhood where my sisters and several girls from our neighborhood would go out biking every day and I would always be in my house playing with my dolls.

What lessons did you learn from your childhood/growing years?

From my parents, I learned the knowledge of sharing, humility, friendship and the perseverance to accomplish what you set out or intend to do. I believe that having strong faith can move mountains. Sad moment was when my grandfather died when I was 8 years old because that moment made me realize what is was like to lose someone you love very much.

My country is now suffering too much with the environmental pollution due to the burning forests and its waste, affecting the air we breathe which causes irreparable damage to the human body.

I would usually spend my free time with the horses on the ranch. I am proud of Belgium because of her social services such as free education, health insurance, pension fund and care for the elderly.

Describe your childhood when you were growing up from 8 to 13 years old.
